On November 3, 2026, voters within River Forest Community School Corporation will consider an eight-year operating referendum renewal that would continue the referendum originally approved by voters in 2019.
Since that referendum was approved, changes to Indiana property-tax law under Senate Enrolled Act 1 (SEA 1) have changed how property taxes are calculated, including new deductions and credits that affect property-tax bills. The proposed River Forest referendum would reduce the maximum operating referendum rate from $1.1900 to $0.9912 per $100 of NET assessed value, lowering the maximum referendum tax rate taxpayers could be charged.
Because of the new deductions, credits, and other changes to Indiana's property-tax system, looking at the referendum tax rate alone does not show the full effect on an individual property owner's tax bill.
This calculator estimates how the proposed River Forest referendum renewal, if approved, would work together with the new property-tax deductions and credits under SEA 1 in 2027 and 2028, using your property's actual 2026 tax information. You don't have to guess your assessed value, deductions, or current tax rate—the calculator uses official Lake County property-tax records to estimate the impact for your individual property.
The result allows you to compare your actual 2026 property-tax bill with estimated 2027 and 2028 amounts and see how the statewide tax changes and the proposed River Forest referendum renewal could affect your property.
All figures are based on certified data from Lake County property-tax records and the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF). Actual future tax bills may vary based on changes in assessed value, tax rates, deductions, credits, and other factors.
